Augustinians to Elect New Prior General in Rome
On September 1, 2019 the 186th Ordinary General Chapter (OGC) of the Order of Saint Augustine will begin in Collegio Santa Monica in Rome, Italy. During the chapter, the delegates of the will elect a new Prior General or as is sometimes the case, re-elected.
The current Prior General, Fr. Alejandro Moral Anton, OSA is from the Province of Spain and has served the Order as Vicar General before during the term of the Most. Rev. Robert F. Prevost, OSA, DD as Prior General from 2001 – 2013.
The path that the Order will take for the next six years will also be decided during the Chapter through the determinations, programs and policies that will be approved during the chapter. Fr. Andres D. Rivera, Jr., OSA as Prior Provincial is an ex officio member of the general chapter. Two other definitors from Province, namely Fr. Eusebio Berdon, OSA and Fr. Rommel Par, OSA, who were elected will represent all the friars of the Province during the 186th Ordinary General Chapter.
