Fr. Berdon celebrates 50 years in Augustinian religious life

In a simple and intimate gathering, Rev. Fr. Eusebio. “Boy” B. Berdon, OSA, celebrated the Golden Anniversary of his First Profession of Vows on June 30, 2022, at the Asia-Pacific Augustinian Novitiate (APAN) chapel at Mohon, Talisay City, Cebu.

It started with a Holy Mass at 5:00 pm presided over by Fr. Berdon and joined by the Augustinian friars in Cebu, the novices, and close family and friends.

After the sermon, Fr. Berdon knelt before the altar and uttered the renewal of the profession of vows which is a sign of his eternal promise to the Lord to continue to live the ideals of St. Augustine of Hippo, the spiritual founder of the Order of Saint Augustine.

Fr. Berdon made his first profession of vows on June 30, 1972, at the Monasterio de Guadalupe (San Agustin Seminary), Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City of the then Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in the Philippines.

He was born in Antique but grew up in North Cotabato before he joined the Order of St. Augustine in Convento de San Agustin, Intramuros, Manila.

At the same time, he is also celebrating today the 47th anniversary of his solemn profession.

Rev. Fr. Berdon was the first Prior Provincial of the Province of Santo Nino de Cebu when it was canonically erected on December 25, 1983.

Currently, he is assigned as prior of the APAN community and assistant master to the novices in Talisay City.

A short tribute followed after the mass at the multipurpose hall of the Novitiate House with a dinner and a video presentation of the life of Fr. Berdon as an Augustinian for the last 50 years.
