Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma led the rite of blessing of the new façade, belfry, and choir loft of Santo Niño de Cebu Parish Church in Barangay Mohon, Talisay City, Cebu.
The Prior Provincial, Fr. Andres D. Rivera, Jr., OSA, Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Antonio R. Rañola along with the friars from the Cebu Communities of the Province, some Cebu diocesan clergy members, religious sisters, government officials and Mohon parishioners graced the said joyous occasion on the afternoon of December 5, 2020.
After the rite of blessing, Archbishop Palma presided the Holy Mass for the Second Sunday of Advent.
The completion of the said parts of the church comprised the first of three phases in the renovation of
Mohon Parish Church. Phase 2 will focus on the widening and construction of the church nave while
Phase 3 will focus on the sanctuary area.
A beautiful set of stained-glass windows depicting Saints Augustine, Monica and Nicholas of Tolentino, the parish titular – Señor Santo Niño de Cebu and the secondary Patroness of the Parish– Our Lady of Consolation were installed at the façade area.
In his thanksgiving speech before the final blessing, Mohon Parish Priest, Fr. Jonas M. Mejares, OSA expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the parishioners, all the benefactors and sponsors, the Augustinian Community of Mohon and to the Province for their support on the construction process of the parish
