The Augustinian Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu—Philippines and the San Agustin Center of Studies thank the Lord for the graces he has bestowed upon Rev. Fr. Edgardo L. Lazo, OSA, as he celebrated the golden jubilee of his priestly ordination last June 30, 2022, at the Sto. Niño de Cebu Parish in Biñan City, Laguna.
Fr. Andrew Batayola, OSA, who preached the homily, noted the need for a minister to abide in the love of the Lord continually and to bear fruit with the help of the grace of God, something which reflected throughout Fr. Lazo’s priestly ministry. After the sermon, Fr. Danilo Carido, OSA, coordinator of the NCR-Luzon Zone of the Province, led Fr. Lazo in renewing his priestly commitment before the People of God.
Several Augustinian friars graced the occasion, including representatives from the parish and the Colegio San Agustin—Biñan, his relatives, and friends. After the Mass, a simple dinner and program were held in his honor at the Audi-Gym of CSA—Biñan.
Fr. Lazo was among the five priests ordained in Valladolid, Spain, on June 30, 1972, by the Spanish bishop Angel Rodríguez Gamoneda OSA, Vicar Apostolic Emeritus of Iquitos, Peru. After his theological studies and ordination in Spain, he returned to the Philippines and ministered extensively in various capacities as community prior, basilica rector, teacher, administrator, novice master, and formator. He is also notably one of the “founding fathers” of the Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu—Philippines. (Soliman, OSA)
Ad multos annos, Pater Lazo
