Four years after the Augustinians arrived in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur, the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish presented a perspective design of a new church that it hopes to build.
The rendered perspective is a 1,000 seat capacity church designed by Engr. Licah Siton & Architect Philmark Caliso.
At present the church structure is made out of bamboo and wood which was only declared a parish in 2018 under the Diocese of Pagadian.
With the plan, the Augustinian friars and the parishioners are aiming to have a sturdier and concrete structure as a house of worship for its people.
The Augustinians officially started their missionary presence in the town on July 1, 2017 with Fr. Vicente Amplayo, OSA and Fr. Mark Anthony Tampos, OSA as its first administrators at San Isidro Chapel, Poblacion, Guipos. But, in 2018, on its declaration as a parish, the location of the current parish is built on a lot donated to the Diocese still in Poblacion and San Isidro remains a chapel.
The Augustinian presence in Guipos is a 10-year contract between the Diocese of Pagadian and the Augustinian Province of Santo Niño de Cebu-Philippines and it is renewable.
Estimated to cost 50 million pesos, the friars and the parishioners are still gathering funds for the project to begin.
Let us support and help build their church.
