Congratulations on the Day of Consecrated Life
February 2, 2022
Dear brothers and sisters:
Today we celebrate the day of consecrated life, with the motto “walking together”, which refers to the process that the entire Church is carrying out with a view to the celebration of the Synod of the year 2023.
The motto has a clear Augustinian perspective. For the Augustinians, friars and sisters, walking together is an essential part of our charism. Our life cannot be understood without the principle of living together under the same roof united with one heart and one mind by the gift of charity that the Holy Spirit gives us. Like synodality, it is based on Augustinian spirituality and founded on the thought of our Father, Saint Augustine, and this motto of “walking together” also invites us to focus on the essential aspects of our charism. It is, therefore, about seeking together, discerning together, praying together, walking together, we could say in “union of souls and hearts towards God”. Let s continue to make every effort to listen to each other and to open our hearts to our brother and to our sister.
Congratulations to all of you and may the God who illuminated the life of Jesus guide us in this desire to live our Augustinian spirituality more intensely.
A warm fraternal greeting,
Prior General O.S.A.
