For three days, from July 25 to 27, 2022, Augustinian friars from Mindanao came to Burgos, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte for a fraternal gathering to share apostolic missionary experiences in parish ministries and the educative community.
All two residences and two communities in Mindanao sent their respective representatives: Socorro Community, Guipos and Burgos Residences, and the CSA Mati community.
They shared and listened to each other’s experiences on the first day. Later in the evening, Rev. Fray Nelson Zerda, OSA, chairman of the Committee of Ongoing Formation of the Province and at the same time rector of the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino de Cebu, shared in on the life of being an Augustinian.
The friars also had the experience of witnessing firsthand how their brothers at the Parish of Santa Ana celebrate its parochial fiesta and various social activities by joining them on the 2nd day.
Lastly, on July 27, Very Rev. Fray Anthony Banks, OSA, Assistant General of the Order of St. Augustine to Asia and the Pacific, was also present and gave his words of wisdom to the friars.
Friars present were Fr. Edmar A. Escobar, OSA and Fr. James Jr. O. Alibong, OSA from Socorro Community; Fr. Victor F. Gonzaga, OSA, Fr. Antonio O. Nombrefia, OSA and Fr. Ian Geoffrey D. Kasilag, OSA from Mati Community; Fr. Rey Cyril C. Lagrosa, OSA from Guipos Residence, and Fr. Tito D. Soquiño, OSA, Fr. Noli P. Detoyato, OSA and Fr. Elmer E. Ebol, OSA from Burgos Residence.
Meanwhile, Very Rev. Fray Andres Rivera, Jr, OSA, Prior Provincial, presided over the fiesta mass of the Parish on the 26th in honor of the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Santa Ana.
With this gathering, may our brothers find strength in each other as we are still amid the pandemic.
