In celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines, the St. Augustine Parish welcomed the Jubilee Cross of the Diocese of Sorsogon on the 16th of July, 2021.
Upon its arrival from St. John the Baptist Parish in Castilla, Sorsogon, a short motorcade welcomed its entry to the jurisdiction of the parish.
It was followed by the welcome rites led by Rev. Fr. Ronald Siaga, OSA, Parish Priest of St. Augustine Parish, together with Rev. Fr. Heginio Lagarde, Parish Priest of St. John the Baptist Parish.
A Eucharistic celebration was held thereafter by the receiving Parish Priest with Rev. Fr. Cyril Jeth Tagalog, OSA, and Rev. Fr. Mark Domasian, OSA – members of the St. Augustine Parish, Gubat, Sorsogon community.
As the Jubilee Cross stays in the parish, they have organized the Cross’ visitation to all the chapels within the jurisdiction of the parish.
Prayer vigils were also conducted throughout the entire duration of the Jubilee Cross’ visit.
On July 28, 2021, the last day of the Jubilee Cross’s visitation, the image of the Santo Niño de Cebu was permitted to be on pilgrimage alongside the Jubilee Cross across the entire diocese.
From Saint Augustine Parish, the Cross was brought to St. Lawrence the Deacon Parish, Pto. Diaz by Rev. Fr. Alex Jerus, its Parish Priest.
